Paul Krugman has a good piece in the NYT today where he makes the point that the Euro is a type of Maginot Line designed to prevent a replay of the 1970s which is completely useless in preventing a replay of the 1930s, which is what we’re on the cusp of.

I can’t help but wonder if it might not be an academic question after already living a replay of the 1920s.

Is this surprising news?

Richmond Fair 2011

We went to the Richmond Fair for a little while this afternoon — as long as I could anyway. It was good to get out. The fair felt better organized this year, though in all fairness we usually go Friday nights for the demolition derby, and that probably shouldn’t be relied on to give me a representative overview of the fair…
